Water Environment Research Foundation

The International Stormwater Best Management Practices Database

WHAT:  The Water Environment Research Foundation, the National Corn Growers Association, and the United Soybean Board recently completed the third phase in the expansion of the Database, which compiles studies and analyses of BMP performance, now includes agricultural BMPs.

International Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) Database

The long-term goal of the Agricultural BMP Database is to help users select better BMP systems for their operations and to improve BMP design and implementation. The database is intended for agricultural advisors, planners, consultants, and producers.  In this third phase, the project team strengthened the initially populated database and prepared a summary report to capture technical findings for row crops — particularly corn and soybean — from the database to date. Data captured in the summary includes 44 peer-reviewed professional publications that characterize pollutant loading and concentrations in 192 fields or study plots.  Specific stormwater summaries are included in the report.
